Heating Pumps
Heat pumps function similarly to air conditioners but are designed to provide both heating and cooling from a single unit by redirecting the refrigerant flow to a different route in the system. They work most efficiently in moderate climates, their thermal transfer efficiency decreases in sub-freezing temperatures. To address this, air handlers can include electric heat strips for supplemental heating when temperatures drop below 40°F, making heat pumps a practical option.
